With the holiday season approaching, the overwhelming need for families and individuals to have access to food is forthcoming. To help, Mid-South Housing Foundation has donated $5,000 to The Pantry of Oxford and Lafayette County to assist in providing this much-needed food.
Mid-South Housing Foundation’s mission is to promote, provide for and foster low- and moderate-income housing. The mission of providing quality affordable housing puts them in direct contact with the need and importance of programs that offer assistance to families throughout the year.
The Pantry of Oxford and Lafayette County, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, has ministered to the emergency and short-term food needs of people of Oxford and Lafayette County by distributing food to needy families and individuals in the community for nearly 40 years.
They have been at their current location of 713 Molly Barr Road, Oxford, for 20 years. After being closed for three months for renovations and expansion, they reopened Sept. 6 and are currently providing food for more than 650 families and individuals per month. The renovation has enabled them to store more food and have access to a walk-in cooler for cold food and frozen food storage.
