In a low scoring Egg Bowl, Ole Miss beat Mississippi State 17-7.   Ole Miss struggled to convert 3rd downs, and a single field goal was the only Rebels score in the first half. The Rebels led at the half 3-0.  The Bulldogs kicker failed to hit the uprights in a late field goal in the first half.

Mississippi State edged ahead 7 to 3 in the 3rd quarter. Mississippi State’s interim head coach, Greg Knox is coaching a different playbook than the air raid mad famous by former coast Mile Leach. . He was named head coach after coach, Zach Arnett was fired with a 5-6 record. Arnett did not last a full season, he succeeded Mike Leech when Leach passed away suddenly on Dec 12, 2022.

The first half of the Egg Bowl was a defensive battle with only 3 points scored by Ole Miss with a field goal. Not the explosive offense displayed this season by Jaxon Dart.
