The Oxford Police Department released the first episode of a video series titled “Behind the Badge” this week.
Behind the Badge is a new video series that will be posted on OPD’s social media accounts where residents of Oxford are introduced to the police officers in the community.
“We wanted to start the ‘Behind the Badge’ series as a way of letting the community know our officers and who they are as a person,” Breck Jones, the Public Information Officer of OPD, said. “We want to show the community that police officers have the same hobbies and interests that they do, and really build that rapport with our community where they feel like they know us as people. Not just as police officers.”
OPD is planning to put out a video every week or every two weeks and will be posted on their social media sites.
“The series has been posted on our Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram,” Jones said. “They will continue to be posted on each platform.”
The first video in the “Behind the Badge” series introduces the community to School Resource Officer Jeremiah Brown.
Brown grew up in the Oxford community. He graduated from Oxford High School in 2009 and then went to the University of Mississippi where he got a degree in Social Work.
At OPD he is on the SWAT team, is a member of National Law 15 and is a DARE instructor. He also works at Della Davidson Elementary School.
“So in my spare time when I’m not at work I love to work out and train,” Brown said. “I have this motto ‘Training Don’t Stop.’ I like to collect my sneakers. My favorite is the Air Jordan Flint Grey 13. I never had them growing up, so when they released last month I decided to treat myself and introduce you to my new favorite pair.”
