Theatre Oxford’s 10-Minute Play Festival is now open for submissions.
The deadline for submissions is Aug. 15, 2020. The first-place winner will receive $1,000, second place winner will receive $250, and third place winner will receive $100. Winners will also get to appear in a limited-run print edition of the selected plays for the festival.
The 10-Minute Play Festival will take place in mid-February 2021 at Oxford’s arts hub, the Powerhouse, and will feature commissioned plays by local writers, Mary Miller and LaToya Faulk.
Those looking to enter the contest should note that submissions have to be original plays that have never before been produced, and must be centered around the theme of magic. Plays don’t have to center around a connection to the supernatural; it can also be mysterious, wonderful, amazing or eerie, spooky and unusual. The theme can be interpreted in any way that the writer deems fit.
The play can be no more than 10 pages and should have between two to four characters with minimal props and costumes.
