The City of Oxford will be shooting fireworks on Friday, July 3, and a couple local restaurants are kicking off their own Independence Day celebrations with an extravaganza this weekend.
The City’s fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m. and will be visible from Oxford High School’s parking lots, the Oxford Conference Center, Della Davidson Elementary, the Malco Oxford Commons parking lot and other surrounding areas.
Local radio station WOXD Bullseye 95.5 will be playing patriotic music in synchronization with the show.
Southern Craft Stove + Tap, located in the nearby Oxford Commons shopping center off Sisk Avenue, announced on social media that they will be offering reservations for barbecue and a view of the fireworks from their parking lot on July 3 beginning at 5 p.m.
Patrons can enjoy Chef Bubba’s ribs, chicken and fixings, then stay for the fireworks. Reservations can be made by calling the restaurant at 662-234-6007.
Rafter’s on the Water, located on Sardis Lake off Blackjack Road, will be offering their own Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 4, complete with “great food and live music all day.”
Their celebration will begin with a performance marine poker run at 11 a.m., with the winner receiving a $1,000 cash prize. A sunset party, complete with food and entertainment, will begin at 6 p.m.
The festivities will end with a firework display on Sardis Lake at 9 p.m. Patrons can tune in to 100.5 The New Sound of Country and 106.9 Country Legends for music and a tribute to the United States Military as they watch the fireworks.
