OUR VIEW: Senior Memories Never Fade
Published 11:53 am Tuesday, April 28, 2020
The coronavirus has wreaked havoc on life as we know it in many ways, from losing loved ones to sacrificing experiences.
The social toll of the COVID-19 pandemic should not go unnoticed, especially among our local high school seniors. We’ve written about sports seasons that were over before we knew it, graduation ceremonies that will happen, but look different, and proms that didn’t get to happen.
The class of 2020 has been robbed of moments so many in their twilight years reflect on fondly. To honor this year’s senior class at Lafayette, Oxford, Water Valley and Regents, the EAGLE has decided to expand its annual Graduation Special Section.
We are now welcoming submissions of Senior Memories from the Class of 2020, to commemorate all the happy times from our students’ abbreviated high school experiences. Submissions can include photos and paragraphs about happy high school days, and will be collected through a Google Form.
Those who have difficulty completing the Google Form are welcome to submit their memories via email to anna.guizerix@oxfordeagle.com.
It is difficult to imagine ourselves in the same position as this year’s senior class. These are children who were born in the 9/11 era, who have lived through an economic recession and many other global disasters; and still, they’re proving to be resilient once again.
We salute you, Class of 2020.
