CJ Terrell is coming home.
A 2018 Oxford High School graduate, Terrell will be enrolling at Ole Miss in 2020 and walking on to the Rebels football team.
After spending two seasons as a defensive back at East Mississippi Community College, the Oxford native’s football journey has brought him back to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
“I’ve been blessed with an opportunity to walk-on at the University of Mississippi,” Terrell said in a statement on Twitter. “Anyone that knows me knows that this is all I’ve dreamed about as a kid. It’s finally happening. Nothing is guaranteed, but I’m going to continue to fight to get what’s mine. The journey isn’t over.”
In three years starting for Oxford, Terrell totaled 15 interceptions at defensive back. In 10 games this past year at East Mississippi Community College, he added another three interceptions.
Without the offers coming out of the junior college levels that he apparently wanted, Terrell attended the Ole Miss walk-on meeting earlier this month and shined. He’s expected to join the team in the spring.
