The Lafayette County Planning Commission will feature some new faces in the next term, with appointees named this week.
The Board of Supervisors appointed two new members to the Planning Commission during their regular meeting on Tuesday, and also approved raising the commissioners’ pay from $75 a month to $120. Pay is regulated by the Mississippi legislature, but the County must approve the raise.
The Commission is comprised of Lafayette County residents, and each supervisor selects one commissioner from their respective district. On Tuesday, the Board appointed Ray Garrett, Dick Marchbanks and James Thompson to continue serving as planning commissioners. Jason Kent and Chad Creager were the two new commissioners appointed, replacing T.J. Ray and Johnny Sockwell.
Four people were also appointed by the Board of Supervisors to serve as county representatives on the Lafayette County Economic Development Foundation. Sherwin Haynie, Vicky Cook, John Adams and Thomas Smith’s appointments were approved.
