The Oxford Police Department conducted eight undercover compliance checks of local businesses earlier this month, and all eight stores passed.
The compliance checks consisted of an underaged person being sent into the business by OPD with the intention of purchasing alcoholic beverages. No store sold to the minor and turned them away when they attempted to purchase alcohol.
“We would like to commend those businesses for following the rules and regulations laid out in the alcohol ordinances,” said Oxford police chief Jeff McCutchen. “We will do more compliance checks in the near future.”
The eight checks took place during the week of Jan. 6 through 10.
All of the stores were gas stations or convenience stores. Those stores were: Shell Marketplace at Oxford Commons, Lindsey’s Chevron, Chevron at 4 Corners, Texaco on South Lamar, Marquis Chevron, Marathon on South Lamar, Chevron on Thacker Road and Circle K on Highway 6.
