After receiving resort status last year, the Inn at Ole Miss will soon be taking advantage of it on a daily basis.
The hotel, located behind the Ole Miss alumni office, announced McCormick’s, a new bar and restaurant that will take over where the current McCormick’s café is located.
The 2,000 square-foot indoor and outdoor space is being renovated, and will feature a bar handcrafted by Ben Napier, Ole Miss alumnus and costar of the HGTV show “Home Town.” Napier and his wife, Erin, live in Laurel and frequent Oxford.
Not much information is currently known regarding the new venue at the hotel, including menu and drink options that will be made available.
In July 2018, the Mississippi Department of Alcohol and Beverage Control approved the University’s request to be qualified for resort status at the hotel and conference center. Last December, the Lafayette County Supervisors approved the University’s request for Vaught-Hemingway Stadium and the Pavilion to earn resort status.
The football stadium began selling alcohol for the first time at Ole Miss games on Oct. 19 during the Texas A&M game and have continued beer sales at all home basketball games.
Alumni can help in the renovation by becoming the first members of the Beer Mug Club. The first 200 charter members will receive a commemorative beer mug, a 20-ounce draft beer for the price of a pint at McCormick’s and a tax-deductible donation to the University of Mississippi. The first 200 who pay the $500 membership fee will also have their name placed on a plaque at McCormick’s.
