Lee Family Dentistry holding eighth-annual Candy Buy Back

Halloween has come and gone, and many families probably have a pile of candy sitting on their kitchen table or counter that will never been eaten.
For the eighth straight year, Lee Family Dentistry has a solution to that overstocked sugar problem. On Monday, the Oxford dentist office will hold its annual Candy Buy Back from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will be held at the Lee Family Dentistry office, located at 1201 Office Park Drive.
Children who turn in their extra candy will receive $1 for every pound they donate, up to five pounds. Donors will be given a toothbrush and other prizes in exchange for unopened Halloween candy.
“This event is a great option for families who are struggling with the thought of their kids eating excessive amounts of candy,” Dr. Preston Lee said. “No child needs to consume an entire shopping bag of full of candy. Halloween is so fun for kids, and our Halloween Candy Buy Back teaches children that they can certainly eat candy but that they can also share the excess.”
The donated candy will be shipped in care packages to members of the armed forces overseas through Operation Gratitude, and distributed locally to veterans and first responders.
Last year, Operation Gratitude distributed more than 440,000 pounds of candy to troops serving across the globe and to veterans and first responders in local communities. It is a non-profit organization that sends care packages to troops overseas with a mission to lift their spirits and appreciate members serving in the military.
Lee Family Dentistry’s event is sponsored by Callahan’s Quick Print, FNB Oxford, Treehouse Toys, Chick-Fil-A, Chili’s, McAllister’s and Square Books, Jr. For more information, call 662-513-0055.
