The Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi is hosting its Mississippi Walk for Diabetes on Sunday on the Ole Miss campus.
The walk will take place at the Lyceum Loop, located in the middle of the UM campus. The event is the oldest and only multi-location Walk for Diabetes in the state. The walk began as one event in Jackson, and has since grown to include cities across the state.
Oxford’s walk will feature family-friendly activities. Registration begins at 1 p.m., followed by the One Mile Fun Run/Walk starting at 2 p.m. This year’s the me is “Someone with diabetes has my heart!”
Participants are encouraged to walk in honor of a family member, friend, co-worker or classmate at Sunday’s event.
After the run/walk at 2 p.m., there will be a picnic lunch provided by Polk’s Meat and Bluebell ice cream. All donations raised at the walk will stay in Mississippi to fund educational and assistance programs for Mississippi adults and children with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, as well as Camp Kandu for children with diabetes.
A minimum suggested donation is $25. Registration for the walk, picnic lunch and a donation is $50. Tickets and registration can be done at the event’s CrowdRise website. More information can be found at msdiabetes.org.
