The Ole Miss football team may have the weekend off, but there is still a tailgate party planned.
The Palmer Home for Children is hosting its fourth annual Tailgate for Palmer on Saturday at the Olivia and Archie Manning Athletics Performance Center.
The event, which is presented by Gateway Tire and Service Center, will feature the best of Ole Miss tailgating, with football, food and drinks, while those in attendance will be able to learn more about Palmer Home.
“We look forward to this night every year,” said Sarah Hollis, senior vice president of engagement. “Our organization is 100-percent privately funded, so Tailgate for Palmer is a vital part of making our mission a reality. This event helps us raise community awareness and the necessary funds to provide for the children at Palmer Home.”
There will be multiple television screens throughout the Manning Center showing all the games played on Saturday evening. Attendees will be able to enjoy dishes curated by James Beard award-winner Rodney Scott of Charleston, S.C. and Oxford’s Debutante Farmer, Elizabeth Heiskell.
Last year the Palmer Home, located in Columbus, served a record 220 children through residential, foster, transitional and family care. The Palmer Home has provided care to meet specific needs of each child and family they work with for the past 125 years.
“It takes a community to support these children,” Hollis said. “By attending this event, you’re helping to shape the lives of these children, and it’s such a fun evening.”
The tailgate party is from 7 to 10 p.m. and general admission tickets are $85 per person. All proceeds benefit the Palmer Home for Children. Tickets can be purchased at palmerhome.org/events. For more information about the event, contact Hollis at shollis@palmerhome.org.
