Oxford and Lafayette County School Districts earn high marks

The Oxford and Lafayette County School Districts have received high marks from a website called Niche, which recently released its 2020 Best Schools list.
In the website’s top K-12 school districts in Mississippi, Oxford School District ranked in the top five along with Petal, Ocean Springs, Clinton and Madison County.
Niche uses data from dozens of public data sources along with millions of reviews from students, parents and residents. The website is considered a resource for researching colleges, schools, neighborhoods and companies across the United States.
Oxford School District’s overall grade by Niche was an A+. Academics was given a grade of A, along with diversity and college prep, while teachers in the district were given a grade of A-, as was health and safety. Clubs and activities received a grade of A+.
Individually, Oxford High School ranked as the fifth-best public high school in the state, according to the website. Oxford Intermediate and Oxford Middle Schools ranked seventh and eighth, respectively, in the best public middle school category. Oxford Elementary was ranked the second-best elementary school in the state with Della Davidson coming in as the eighth-best.
Lafayette County School District was given an overall grade of A-. Clubs and activities had the highest mark with an A. Teachers and diversity each had an A- grade. Academics and health and safety earned a B+ grade and college prep earned a B.
Lafayette High School finished in the top-25 top public high schools in Mississippi, coming in at No. 24. Lafayette Middle School was ranked as the state’s 33rd best public middle school while Lafayette Upper (No. 93) finished in the top-100 public elementary schools in the state.
