The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking into what caused a single-car wreck that turned fatal on Friday night.
At approximately 11:23 p.m. a 2011 Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound on Highway 6 when it left the road and collided with a culvert. The driver was identified as Whitnee A. Smith, 18 of Batesville, who sustained moderate injuries.
Two passengers were killed as a result of the wreck. One passenger was identified as Charles Redmond, 27, of Oxford, who succumbed to his injuries after being airlifted to a Memphis hospital. The other passenger was identified as Tami Breana Gordon, 19, by Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy on Monday. Gordon was pronounced dead at the scene.
This is still a developing story.
