Ira Lee Hickinbottom, 52 of Oxford, was involved in a motorcycle wreck in the wee hours of the morning on Monday.

According to a statement from Chief Investigator Alan Wilburn, of the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, the accident took place at 2:41 a.m. on July 29, near 206 County Road 323 in Taylor.

“It appeared that (Hickinbottom) lost control of the motorcycle and ran off the road and was unable to regain control,” Wilburn said. “(Hickinbottom) was the only person involved in the wreck.”

Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy confirmed Hickinbottom’s identity.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but will be announced at a later date by Serenity-Martin Funeral Home of Oxford.
