Obituary – Joe Thomas “Tommy” Hunsucker

Joe Thomas “Tommy” Hunsucker, 70, passed away Monday, June 17, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford. Visitation will be Thursday, June 20, 2019, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 21, 2019, at 10 a.m. also at Coleman Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Antioch Cemetery in Ripley, Miss. Bro. Fish Robinson will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford, Miss., is in charge of arrangements.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hunting for old arrowheads, and many different sports. He was also known to be a history buff and a musician throughout his life. Mr. Hunsucker served in the United States Army Corps. There, he earned 3 bronze stars, 7 expert marksman badges, and was presented as Soldier of the Month in August of 1970.
Mr. Hunsucker is survived by his wife, Mary Hunsucker, of Abbeville, Miss.; his daughter, Molly (Ted) Watson, of Oxford; his son, Joe Curtis (Cindy) Hunsucker, of Tupelo, Miss.; two granddaughters, Edith Reed Hunsucker, of Tupelo, and Rachel Frances Watson, of Oxford; one grandson on the way; one brother, David (Meriam) Hunsucker, of Ashland, Miss.; and one niece, Tammie Cobb, of Myrtle, Miss.
In honor of Mr. Joe Thomas Hunsucker’s service, the flag of the United States Army Corps will be flown at Coleman Funeral Home the day of the services.
