When Lafayette Middle School resumed on Monday following Spring Break, it did so with a heavy heart. La’Konjuwa RyNeke’ Rogers passed away at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital from complications of a severe asthma attack which led to a seizure last Friday.
Rogers was a sixth-grader at LMS. She was the daughter of Linda King and Willie S. ‘Skeeter’ Rogers Jr. and is survived by two sisters.
The family started a Facebook fundraiser in Rogers’ honor and to help with funeral expenses.
“She was very special to me and because she was named after me,” Roger’s Aunt wrote in a post on the Facebook page. “She loved to read, dress up and she loved her family very much.”
As of this writing, $910 of the $4,000 goal had been raised. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at L. Hodges Funeral Service on Saturday. The funeral will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Tallahatchie-Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building located on Highway 334.
