Born in Oxford, to Marvin Herschel and Viola Briscoe Lamb, Mrs. Haynie was a beloved wife, mother, grandma and GiGi. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Abbeville, Miss., where she loved being part of the Adult 1 Sunday School class. Additionally, she was active in the Meals on Wheels program and spent many hours crocheting. Rachel always had a huge heart for children, working many years in the nursery and accepting and loving over 40 foster babies. Most of all, she loved being Grandma and GiGi to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rachel was a wonderful, loving mother but her favorite role of all was being wife to her sweetheart, Wayne. Even toward the end of her life, when Alzheimer’s claimed most of her mind, the person she wanted most was her devoted husband, Wayne and he was continually by her side, always. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandchildren, J.D. Taylor and Jade Hall.
Mrs. Haynie is survived by her husband, David Wayne Haynie of Abbeville; daughters, Debra Hall of Pasadena, Texas and Sue Taylor and her husband, Jack of Crawfordsville, Ind.; sons, Randy Haynie and his wife, Tina of Jasper, Ala. and David Haynie and his wife, Kelly of Spring, Texas; grandchildren, Brandon Wheeler and his wife, Holly of Indianapolis, Ind., Kristen McGaughey and her husband, Jordan of Indianapolis, Chelsea Ward and her husband, Stephen of Pasadena, Texas, Chadwick Haynie of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Sean Hall of Houston, Texas and Sarah Jane Haynie of Providence, R.I. and 10 great-grandchildren.
