Leon Bullard

Mr. Leon Bullard, 78, passed Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. The funeral service will be Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Anchor Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Shook officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home and again prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Mr. Bullard’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Born in Tuscumbia, Ala. to the late Ezra L. “Bilbo” Bullard and Virginia Pricilla Bracken Bullard, Mr. Bullard moved to Oxford at age three. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army and in the 223rd Engineering Battalion of Mississippi National Guard out of Bruce, Miss. and was the owner and operator of Bullard Vinyl Siding Company. He was an active member of Anchor Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 55 in Oxford, the OD Smith Masonic Lodge #33 and Oxford Shriner’s Club. He formerly served as the Administrator of Baptist Children’s Village in Laurel and worked as a driver for Callahan Charter Tour Company and Oxford University Transit. When Mr. Bullard was not working or volunteering, he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was especially skilled in building bird and bat houses. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bullard was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Lee Bullard; a son, Edward Leon Bullard and a sister, Sandra Rathheim.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Wilson Bullard of Oxford; three daughters, Angela Bullard Leslie of Oxford, Ellen L. Bullard of South Fulton, Tenn. and Jennifer Wood of Evansville, Ind.; four sons, Dennis Bullard and his wife, Carol of Oxford, Scott Bullard and his wife, Daisy of Oxford, Michael Tate Wood and his wife, Nicole of Eads, Tenn. and D’wayne Bullard and his wife, Rebecca of Oxford; one sister, Janice Brooks of Hendersonville, N.C.; one brother, Bill Bullard of Kaiserslautern, Germany; 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
