Tommye Lancaster Webb

Tommye Lancaster Webb, 91, died peacefully Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, Miss.

She was born in Selmer, Tenn., graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1948 then Mississippi State in 1950.

Married to Bill Webb since 1948, the couple moved to Traceway Retirement Community in Tupelo from Selmer in 2011.

Tommye retired from McNairy Central High after 42 years of teaching. Beloved by all of her students, Tommye went out of her way to always help others.

She was involved in First United Methodist Church of Selmer in many ways. Organizations in which she was active include Stephen Foster Music Club, UDC, Retired Teachers, Meals on Wheels, Gideons and Selmer Book Club. She and Bill were named 2005 McNairy County Citizens of the year.

Survivors include husband, Bill, of Tupelo; daughters Becky Peebles (Jack), Mayfield, Ky., Molly Meisenheimer (Ed), Oxford, Amy McFerrin (Jack) of Tupelo, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Tommye was preceded in death by her parents and twin great-grandsons.

Services will be Wednesday, Sept. 19 in Selmer at First United Methodist Church. Visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. with service following at 5 p.m. Reception at the church will follow, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetary in Selmer.
