Dr. Edward Capps, III, 83, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. A graveside service will be Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, at 1 p.m., at Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Stuart Guernsey will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Capps was born in Oberlin, Ohio. He worked for The University of Mississippi as a professor. Dr. Capps dedicated about 40 years of his life to The University of Mississippi before retiring. His greatest achievements were always his students. Dr. Capps was always extremely proud of them.

Dr. Capps is survived by his close friend, Ray A. Furr of Oxford.
