Kathy Brummett, a longtime Oxford resident, has joined Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford as its Family Care Coordinator.
Brummett said her position builds on Coleman Funeral Home’s already established relationships with families.
“It’s about care and building relationships,” Brummett said in a recent news release. “When it matters, you should know we (at Coleman Funeral Home) will be there following up, even months after the death of a loved one.”
As someone who’s experienced the passing of a close family member, Brummett said she understands the importance of caring for family members after the death of a loved one. Caring for local families in the weeks and months after the loss of a loved one, she said, is one reason she’s looking forward to this new role.
Coleman Funeral home co-owner Glenn Coleman said the role is a natural fit, since people in the community already know Brummett for her care and compassion.
“People know Kathy as someone who cares deeply for others, as well as for her attention to detail,” Coleman said in a recent news release. “She will serve our families well.”
Brummett has been an Oxford resident for more than 40 years. She previously served as an independent national sales director for Mary Kay Cosmetics, until she retired in January 2017. She is married to Pete Brummett, and has three daughters, Christy, Casey and Kimberly, as well as eight grandchildren.
She is an active member of the Oxford Church of Christ, where she works in the college ministry. For her efforts, Brummett was named 2017 Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts.
In her new role with Coleman Funeral Home, Brummett said she is most looking forward to supporting families.
“The family care component is what most appealed to me about this position,” she said. “Serving and helping people has always been important to me.”
