Mr. William Hervey “Sonny” Cook, Jr. died July 5, 2018, at Yalobusha County Hospital.  Born in Water Valley on May 17, 1934, to the late William Hervey Cook, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Bell Cook, he graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in accounting. He spent two years serving in the U.S. Army.

Sonny worked for the State of Mississippi as an auditor and enjoyed fixing things and helping his neighbors.  He enjoyed walking, reading at least two daily newspapers and working the crossword puzzles. Sonny also operated the Valley Theater and was an avid fan of old movies.

Funeral services are planned for Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. David Floyd officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Gail Cook of Water Valley; a son, William Michael Cook of Oxford and two sisters, Mae Bell Fly (David) of Senatobia, Miss. and Elizabeth Anne DeCoux (George) of Gulfport, Miss.
