Joseph Yoon Tae Woestendiek

Joseph Yoon Tae Woestendiek, 26, of New Albany, Miss., died June 18 at Regional One Health in Memphis, Tenn. He was injured in a car accident on June 5.

He was born in Taegu, South Korea, on Nov. 23, 1991, and was adopted when he was five months old. He is a graduate of Florence High School in Florence, Ala., and the University of Mississippi, where he earned a B.S. in computer science from the School of Engineering. He was employed in the information technology department of Automated Conveyor Systems, Inc., of West Memphis, Ark.

Joe is survived by his parents, Jenny and Wayne Mitchell of New Albany, and John Woestendiek of Winston-Salem, N.C.; his grandmother, Janis Swartz of New Albany; his brother, Jon Mitchell, wife Mary and family, Ashburn, Va.; his sister, Morgan Hunt and family, Pittsburgh, Pa.; uncles Ted Woestendiek and James Wong, Winston-Salem, N.C.; aunt and uncle Donna and Homer Lawrence, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; aunt and uncle Kathryn and John Scepanski of Madison, Wis.; many cousins, friends and pets.

A memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Oxford at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 29, followed by lunch for family and friends in the church fellowship hall.
