Jeffery Brand Caldwell

Mr. Jeffery Brand Caldwell, 50, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2018, at his residence in Oxford. Visitation will be Saturday, May 19, 2018, from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow at 11 a.m., also at Coleman Funeral Home.
Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Caldwell grew up playing golf as a child at Back Acres Country Club in Senatobia, Miss. He won a number of amateur tournaments throughout his years. Mr. Caldwell earned a scholarship to play golf for Northwest Mississippi Community College and Arkansas State University. He also attended several colleges throughout his education including Northwest Mississippi Community College, Arkansas State University, The University of Mississippi and Delta State University.
He received his Bachelor’s degree from The University of Mississippi and his Master’s degree from Delta State University.
He served as a graduate assistant to the men’s basketball teams while at Northwest, Ole Miss and DSU. Mr. Caldwell had an outstanding coaching career over a number of years. He was an assistant at NWCC before becoming the assistant coach at Texas A&M under Peggy Gillom for women’s basketball.
Mr. Caldwell was the head women’s basketball coach for four years at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark. While at HSU, he led his team to a Gulf South Conference Championship, and appearances in the Elite Eight and the Final Four.
He was also the men’s basketball coach at NWCC for three years and put in time coaching at Ittawamba Community College and Christian Brothers University.
Mr. Caldwell was also a member of the Senatobia United Methodist Church, the Wesley Foundation and The University of Mississippi M-Club.
Mr. Caldwell leaves behind his parents, Ruth and Danny Caldwell; his sister, Allyson (D.D.) Hardy; his daughter, Sadie Caldwell; his son, Canon Caldwell and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
