Theatre Arts at Oxford High School truly something special

Like everyone, I have been grieving for the lost lives in the latest school shooting.  I have listened to all the reasons for it put forth and one seems to stand out for me. The marginalization of people either through bullying or just exclusion during times of personal growth and development is breeding such angry individuals.

And then, I went to see the Oxford High School play, “Fiddler On The Roof” and my heart swelled as I watched the most brilliant example of INCLUSION!  John Davenport took kids who had never done anything like this and made them stars!  He also took kids who just wanted to be a part of this and gave them real jobs to do with costume, makeup, lighting and directing and he made them realize that it took everyone to make the show possible.

I have seen lives changed on that stage throughout the 100 shows that John Davenport has put on for our community! There is never enough money for the arts. Every penny we can direct toward the arts in our high schools will come back to us with healthy, productive young citizens. If you want to do something positive, send a check for Theatre Arts to Oxford High School.  I will!
