Empty Bowls supporting a great cause

We have so much talent in Oxford when it comes to food and the arts that our stars in this small city number too many to list here.
But we can point out that our many stars shine even brighter because they are quite creative and caring.
The annual Empty Bowls event coming up Feb. 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Oxford Conference Center is a good example. The event raises money for The Pantry, and last year it generated some $14,000, providing more food for needy in the community.
This year 25 restaurants are participating, providing soups like chicken florentine, shrimp etouffee and more. The chefs and restaurants make the soup and it is served in a specially-made ceramic bowl with water and bread, all for $20.
You can eat the soup at the conference center, which is encouraged, or take it to go.
Either way, it’s a fantastic deal all for a good cause.
Mark your calendar for Feb. 8 and let’s make this year’s Empty Bowls the biggest yet. It’s the perfect opportunity provide food for families in need in the community while celebrating our creative, caring stars of the culinary arts.
