Ole Miss softball players Kylan Becker and Elantra Cox made history Wednesday.
Becker and Cox were voted to the preseason All-SEC team by the league’s 13 head coaches. The outfielders are the first players in the program’s 22-year history to earn the honor.
Becker hit .375 with 75 hits as a sophomore last season, becoming the first Ole Miss player to earn first-team All-SEC honors. She also had 31 RBIs and scored 34 runs.
Cox, the Rebels’ leadoff hitter, is back for her senior season after leading the SEC last season with 93 hits, a single-season program record, and is just seven shy of setting the school’s career hits record. She finished with a .429 average and also set a single-season school record with 51 runs scored.
Ole Miss, fresh off its first-ever SEC Tournament championship and super regional appearance, will open the 2018 season Feb. 9 in the Sand Dollar Classic in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
