Charles Alvin “Charlie” Holloway

Charles Alvin “Charlie” Holloway, 87, of Water Valley, Miss., died Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at his home.
He was born Jan. 3, 1931 in Water Valley to the late Alvin H. Holloway and Gladys H. Holloway.
While serving in the United States Air Force, Staff Sgt. Holloway was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Charlie then went to work for the Yalobusha General Hospital while it was being built and after it opened. He attended Jumpers Chapel Methodist Church.
Services are planned for Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Dr. Randy Bain officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his son, Steve Holloway of Water Valley, Miss.; two nephews, Jimmy Holloway of Memphis, Tenn., and William Howard “Duck” Holloway of Searcy, Ark.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Genora Swearengen Holloway; a son, Charles A. Holloway, II; and a brother, Howard Holloway.
