Mr. John Daniel Davis, 38, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at home in Oxford, Miss after battling a long illness. A private reception to honor John Daniel’s life will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at 3 p.m. at the family’s home in Oxford. An additional service will be held at a later date in Orange Beach, Ala.
John Daniel (or JD as he was known to many) worked for many years throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean in hospitality management and as a business consultant. Ever on the move, he enjoyed trips to Talladega, hanging out at the Flora-Bama, bartending at The Swamp, riding his motorcycle whenever and wherever he could and time spent with loved ones anywhere near the ocean. He was a former president of the Selma Riders Club, an organization that dedicated their time to fundraising for many charities. During his time with the club they helped raise money for the Angel Tree Foundation to provide Christmas presents for the children of incarcerated parents, aided local families in need and raised money to provide toys for the new local children’s hospital wing. He loved his family and friends fiercely and charmed all those who met him completely.
Survivors include his wife, Gina Sexton of Oxford, Miss; his parents, Jennifer and Frederick Davis of Killen, Ala; a sister, Mitsy Michelle Cummings of Killen, Ala. and a brother, Thomas Wayne Davis of Killen, Ala.
Memorial contributions in JD’s memory may be made to hurricane relief funds or the charity of the donor’s choice.
