The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal wreck that occurred late Sunday evening on Highway 6.

According to MHP, at about 9:46 p.m., Carla Cocker of Pontotoc was traveling east on Highway 6 in a 2008 Ford SUV when a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Ross Wiggers of Oxford, who was traveling west in the eastbound lane for unknown reasons, collided with Cocker.

Lafayette County firefighters assisted law enforcement in looking for the Wiggers who was discovered a short time later. He had been thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

MHP spokesman Sgt. Joey Miller said the wreck is still under investigation.
