After months of planning, the Oxford School District is ready for its bond referendum that, if passed, will provide finances for a new elementary school and other district-wide renovations.
The referendum is scheduled to take place on Sept. 26 and the bond proposed is for $38 million.
Over the course of the summer, community meetings were held to discuss the bond and opinions from the community were heard.
According to the district, they have seen a three to five percent increase in students each year.
Voting will be held at the Oxford Conference Center (102 Ed Perry Blvd.) where polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
All qualified electors in the Oxford School District are entitled to vote.
For those unable to make it to the conference center on the 26th, absentee ballots can be picked up at City Hall (107 Courthouse Sq.) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The final day to submit an absentee ballot will be Sept. 23 at noon. If you need one sent to you, call the City Clerk’s office at 662-232-2312.
