Film crews from the Food Network spent lunchtime at Neon Pig Monday to shoot footage for a possible upcoming show.
Manager Caleb Thompson said the butcher/restaurant was contacted last week about filming in their Oxford location. Thompson said the filming featured Neon Pig’s popular Smash Burger and Pork Belly Bun.
While Thompson said the show was a “new documentary,” a Food Network spokesperson said they could not release any information as to why the film crews were at Neon Pig Monday. However, crews are expected back at Neon Pig on Thursday afternoon to finish filming.
In 2015, Thrillist.com named the Smash Burger the Best Burger in America. The hamburger is made up from a mix of ground aged filet mignon, N.Y. Strip and rib eye with Benton’s bacon, served on a bun with cheddar cheese, quick pickles, onions and hoisin sauce.
Neon Pig is a full-fledged butcher shop, buying its meats from local farms and breaks them down in-house. Originally started in Tupelo, Neon Pig opened an Oxford location in 2015.
Neon Pig is located off North Lamar Boulevard in the Mid-Town Shopping Center next to the SnackBar restaurant.
