With summer in full swing, it’s time for the Lafayette-Oxford-University’s annual Community Water Day. In collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club, the event is set to take place on Saturday from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Avent Park.
Community Water Day is, according to a press release, “an event designed to offer summertime fun to all ages. Water Day aims to bring local families together for a morning of summertime fun, and will serve as an end-of-summer-programming celebration for the students of the Boys & Girls Club.”
Other sponsors and partners of the event include Good Food for Oxford Schools, Mothers Demand Action for Gun Sense and Kindermusik with Jeanne & Friends.
The day of fun will include slip-n-slides, water balloons and music themed educational activities.
“This Community Water Day is slightly different from those LOU Excel by 5 hosted in the past,” said Edy Dingus, an AmeriCorps VISTA for United Way of Oxford-Lafayette. “This year’s event welcomes all children, not only those five and under, to enjoy a fun and active morning in the sun. LOU Excel by 5, the Boys & Girls Club, and our other partner organizations hope that this Water Day will help deepen many Lafayette County families’ sense of community support.”
Avent Park is located on Park Drive off of Highway 7. Community Water Day is free of charge and everybody is encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served and sunscreen will be available to use.
