If you need a little inspiration for decorating, gardening and bird watching this spring the University of Mississippi’s Communiversity enrichment program has three one-hour classes planned to get you moving in the right direction.
This month the popular $10 lunch and learn classes begin.
On Wednesday, March 22, local bird watchers will learn how to create a beautiful hummingbird garden with Mitch Robinson from Strawberry Plains Audubon Center in Holly Springs. Strawberry Plains is known for it’s annual Hummingbird Festival, and Robinson will teach participants all of his tricks for enticing the fascinating species into your yard this summer.
The class will take place from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the UM Train Depot located behind the Gertrude Ford Center on the UM campus.
The next lunch and learn class will be held on Wednesday, March 29 at 12 noon with Jordan Brown from Oxford’s Discount Building Materials design shop. Brown will be leading, “Easy to Elegant Easter Tablescapes and Centerpieces.”
The class will feature a live demonstration of ideas for decorating a beautiful table and will teach skills for beginning to advanced decorators.
This course will be held at the UM Insight Park off of Hathorn Road in the first floor training room.
Join ISA-Certified Arborist Jeff McManus for his annual “Spring Pruning” class on Wednesday, April 26 at noon. McManus is the director of landscaping services for the UM campus and author of the popular gardening book “Pruning Like a Pro.”
McManus will share the proper techniques for pruning trees and shrubs to help your yard have its best spring debut. The class will take place at the UM Train Depot.
