The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour will be live tonight at 6 p.m. at Off Square books with live music and guest authors.
The free show will feature host Jim Dees and the TMR house band, the Yalobushwhackers and will be broadcast locally on WUND 92.1 FM and online at www.myrebelradio.com. It will also air on Mississippi Public Broadcasting on March 18 at 7 p.m.
Tonight’s guests include author Phillip Lewis, born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains and now practices law in Charlotte, N.C. where he lives with his family. His debut novel is The Barrowfields (Hogart).
Featured musical guests are Mississippi bluesman, Terry “Harmonica” Bean and Austin, Texas based singer-songwriter, Adam Torres.
Bean, originally from Pontotoc, is a harp-blowing, guitar-grooving one-man band. He got his start playing his name sake instrument, accompanying Delta blues greats such as T-Model Ford, Asa Payton and Lonnie Pitchford. He now performs with guitar and harp as a solo act appearing at festivals across this country and Europe.
Torres’ newest release is the four-track EP I Came to Sing the Song (Fat Possum). Torres’s previous CDs include Nostra Nova and Pearls to Swine.
