After a months-long search, The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour, the Oxford-based music and literature program, has announced a new Executive Producer/Director for the show.
Kate Teague, a 2015 Ole Miss graduate and Mobile, Alabama, native was hired this week by the show’s Board of Directors to take the helm. Teague had served as interim Director while the Board conducted its search and worked with the show the past two years as a production intern.
“I am beyond excited to accept this position,” Teague said, “and for the chance to continue to work alongside the Thacker family, board and our loyal sponsors.”
Teague is no stranger to the stage. She is a local musician, both as a solo artist and as the songwriter/guitarist of the band Reels, and has worked in the music business in Nashville with Vector Management, Rounder Records, and musician Will Kimbrough.
Thacker board member, Bethany Cooper, who chaired the search committee, said Teague’s past experience in the music industry and commitment to the show were key to her being hired.
“There are a lot of hours involved with this job and it takes a special love and passion for the show,” Cooper said. “We are confident we have the right person to lead the show and couldn’t be happier that Kate accepted our offer. We also want to thank all the candidates who applied.”
