Making a difference on MLK Day

On Monday, Oxford and our nation has an opportunity to honor the memory of Martin Luther King Jr., and keep alive his goal of making our world a better place for all to live in.
Dr. King once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?’”
Communities all over the country will be answering that question with the National Day of Service to serve their fellow man and make a difference in the lives of others.
MLK Day is an opportunity to begin 2017 in a positive way by making an impact in the LOU community through volunteering, cleaning up a neighborhood, helping your neighbor with a project, giving of your time at a school, or any number of other ways to give back.
It’s an opportunity for all of us to remember and celebrate the life and legacy of a man who strived to make a difference and make our nation a better place for all individuals. We still have a long ways to go, but we each can do our part in some way or another.
In the words of Dr. King, “Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.”
