COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi’s Golden Triangle’s industrial development efforts will be in the national spotlight as an episode of CBS’ 60 Minutes profiles Golden Triangle Development LINK CEO Joe Max Higgins.
The region is formed by the cities of Columbus, Starkville and West Point and their respective counties. Higgins has led the economic development agency, which has drawn about 6,000 jobs to the area in recent years by attracting companies such as PACCAR, Steel Dynamics and Yokohama.
The Commercial Dispatch (http://bit.ly/2gmpx3z ) reports the episode, which airs at 6 p.m. Sunday, will focus on how manufacturing has survived in an unlikely place and will look at elements that have played key roles in the area’s growth.
Higgins says he hopes the program will shed light on why the region is “such a special place.”
