Betty Jean Akers Britt, 80, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, at her home in Pontotoc, surrounded by her family.

The visitation will be Thursday evening,  Sept. 29, from 5-8 p.m. at Baldwin Funeral Home in Pontotoc, and the funeral will be Friday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. at Baldwin Funeral Home. Burial will be at West Heights Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Britt is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, William S. Britt; a son Larry Britt (Linda) from Oxford; two daughters, Keena Britt Hayles (Rickey) from Olive Branch, and Deva Britt Staton (Mike) from Indian Harbor Beach, Florida; eight grandchildren, Dustin Hayles (Katie), Kerri Maglior (Nick), Casey Hayles — all from Olive Branch, Will Britt (Bailey) from Tuscumbia, Alabama, Matt Britt from Oxford, Brittney Staton, Jennifer Staton, and Abby Staton — from Indian Harbor Beach, Florida, and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Britt graduated from Pontotoc High School. She was a member of Pontotoc Garden club, and a member of West Heights Baptist Church.

She always kept an immaculate home, enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and gardening. She made beautiful afghans and quilts for her children and grandchildren and the Britts won the “Yard of the Month” when they lived in Barton, Mississippi. They have always been known for having a beautiful yard, flower gardens, and vegetable gardens.
