Ole Miss men’s golf signee Kerry Sweeny earned medalist honors at the NJCAA Men’s National Championship at the Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Florida Friday.

Sweeny, from Melbourne, Florida, head into the fourth and final round tied for fifth place. He fired seven birdies and avoided a bogey in the final round to post a tournament-low round of 7-under par 65 to clinch the championship. Sweeny led Eastern Florida State to a fourth-place team finish.

“It means so much to be a national champion,” said Sweeny. “To do it in my last event as a junior college player brings a lot of emotion. Moving forward, Ole Miss and my future teammates will only bring more competition and determination. I’m very excited to compete under both coach Malloy and Ellis into a growing program.”
