The Ole Miss Feed the Hunger organization will sponsor the sixth annual Pack a Thon this Friday and Saturday at the Oxford Middle School cafeteria on Bramlett Avenue. Our goal is to pack 170,000 meals that will be delivered to Haiti, Kenya, rural Kentucky and the Oxford community by Ole Miss students. We invite the Lafayette, Oxford, University community to join us Friday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturday 9-11 a.m., noon-2 p.m. or 3-5 p.m. as we pack food.
With the help of clubs, organizations and interested individuals in the area, the Ole Miss Feed the Hunger Pack a Thons have packed and delivered more than 667,000 meals in the past five years. Over 3,000 volunteers have helped us pack. Last year 885 volunteers helped. Come help us make a difference this year; $65 feeds a child for a year.
We will also be encouraging and accepting donations for local organizations Love Packs and More Than a Meal. For Love Packs, pop top-type foods such as fruit cups, soups and ravioli will be accepted. For More Than a Meal, personal items such as bar soap, shampoo and paper towels and bathroom tissue will be accepted.
