Junior Auxiliary Charity Ball set for Jan. 22

Don’t put your Christmas dress in the back of the closet quite yet — Junior Auxiliary of Oxford’s Charity Ball is right around the corner.
The Jan. 22 event benefitting the children of Oxford and Lafayette County will mark its fourth year with a January ball. The event is usually held in the fall, but organizers moved it to January to hopefully gain more participation.
Torie Marion White, publicity chair for the event, said the ball is the group’s only fundraiser each year.
“All proceeds go to benefit children in Oxford and Lafayette County,” she said. “The money stays right here to help our children. Through the generosity of community members, we are able to offer projects that have a positive impact on the children of the Oxford-Lafayette County community.”
Tickets for the 7 p.m. cocktail attire event at The Lyric are $50 and include food from The Second Line. Beer is provided by Yalobusha Brewing, and there is a cash bar. The event includes a silent auction, wine pull and music from Music City Rhythm Revue.
Every member of the nonprofit will be helping in some capacity, including selling at least three tickets. Usually about 250 are sold each year.
White said hundreds of hours go into putting the event together.
“We are very excited to announce the fourth Junior Auxiliary of Oxford Charity Ball,” she said. “Our chapter has been working very hard planning and organizing a fun night for our community. The JA members are happy that because of this ball we will have the opportunity to help so many children in our community.”
Some of the ways they help include stuffing a bus with backpacks, Camp Bats and Balls at Ole Miss for children, a Dr. Seuss promotion, and the nonprofit adopts families in need or those who have had an emergency like a house fire.
A special recognition of life, associate and current JA members will take place before the band starts, and tables stationed around the band are available for purchase along with tickets. Tickets can be purchased at the door, through any JA member, at Belles and Beaus or Ross Family Dental.
