Wreck claims life of Oxford woman

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal wreck that happened Sunday afternoon at about 1:15 p.m. on Highway 7 North that claimed the life of an Oxford resident.
Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy said Colleen O. Dalton, 67, was the passenger of 2008 Cadillac that was travelling south on Highway 7 North, near the Serenity-Martin Funeral Home when the vehicle was hit by a 1990 Jeep travelling north and driven by James Sparrow, 20, from Cordova, Tennessee.
Dalton and her husband, Sam “Bo” Dalton, live in the Oxford Creek subdivision. He was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis with severe injuries. His condition after emergency surgery last night was not known this morning.
Sparrow was also flown to Tupelo with critical injuries.
The wreck is under investigation.
