Forget about cyber Monday, the Giving Tuesday campaign is Oxford University School’s annual end-of-the-year fundraiser on Tuesday.
OUS’s goal is to raise $190,000 for the FabulOUS Fund this school year. This fund depends on monthly contributions and end of the year giving.
“OUS is excited to be part of the initiative Giving Tuesday inspiring people to give back,” said OUS Parent Support Group member Tonya Covington.
“Oxford University School has strived to make an impact in the education of children in the Oxford area for over 30 years, so by giving to the annual fund you are helping OUS to continue that tradition of excellence.”
Donations are made to the OUS annual fund online at http://www.ouschool.org/support/. Donors will be recognized later for their gift to the fund on the school’s OUS Giving Tree.
Covington said the giving tree is a great way for students to take part in recognizing the people who give on “Giving Tuesday” and throughout the school year. Each name will be placed on a heart and hung on the school’s giving tree by the students. At the end of the school year, a permanent plaque with the donors’ names will be displayed in the school to credit each year’s donors.
Assistant Head of School Sarah Hopkins said the campaign is held during a busy time where the school is recruiting students for the following academic year.
“December is a busy month at OUS as we begin our enrollment for next year, introduce prospective students to the school and continue our annual giving campaign,” Hopkins said. “Our School “Board and Parent Support Group are leading our annual fund campaign, while the faculty and staff are beginning the enrollment plans for the next school year.”
To help with enrollment numbers, OUS will have an open house with two sessions for prospective students and families to come visit the school on Dec. 10. The first open house session will be 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. The second session will be on the same day from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
The event will be an informative walk-through of the school with light refreshments served.
