Ripley man charged with DUI in connection with Highway 30 crash

An arrest has been made in connection with Saturday night’s three-vehicle crash on Highway 30 that resulted in one person being airlifted to a Memphis hospital.
Chase Michael Lowry, 29 of Ripley, was charged with Aggravated DUI and booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center on Saturday night.
Troopers with the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the the accident at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Saturday on Highway 30 near the Cobblestone neighborhood. The person airlifted to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis was listed in serious condition and an update has not been given on their condition as of Monday.
Lowry teaches special education at the Hickory Flat Attendance Center and had been serving as an assistant coach for several years. Lowry was entering his first year as Hickory Flat’s head softball and volleyball coach.
The cause of the crash is currently unknown still being investigated by the MHP.
