When it comes to openness, Lafayette County can brag that it’s one of the most hospitable counties across the entire state.

According to Airbnb, a community driven hospitality company, Lafayette County Airbnb hosts brought in the second most income among the top 15 counties in Mississippi.

Lafayette hosts raked in $2.1 million, according to a release, which was second only to Harrison County, one of the state’s most southern counties.

In total, Lafayette County had around 13,000 guest arrivals in 2018. Statewide, hosts earned $10.6 million around the state of Mississippi.

Among the other top 15 counties, only Lafayette and Harrison counties garnered over $1 million in revenue. The closest county after Lafayette is Hinds, and Airbnb reported they brought in about $988,000 in host income in 2018.

This report comes after an earlier release from Airbnb detailed that hosts in Oxford made about $1.1 million during Ole Miss games this season.

In 2017, Airbnb told the EAGLE that booking in the 38655 area code exceeded $1.4 million from about 8,400 arrivals.

Ole Miss football games, the square and William Faulkner’s home drive a majority of those numbers, with most Oxford listings on the Airbnb website mentioned the distance it takes to reach Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
