Wiley Clayton Sharpe, age 84, died Friday, May 11, 2018 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.
He was born May 19, 1933 to the late Lonnie and Lula Mae Pennington Sharpe in Brazil, Mississippi. Wiley was a farmer and a retired sergeant for the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and gardening. As a delightful storyteller, he captivated his listeners with intricate details. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a Baptist.
Services are planned for 2 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Rev. Truman Scarborough officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. A private family burial will be held in the Jenkins Family Cemetery in Sumner, Mississippi.
He is survived by two daughters, Betty Sharp Reves (Sam) of Abbeville, Mississippi; and Patti (Brian) Fitzpatrick of Lexington, Kentucky; one son, Michael Glenn (Marla) Sharpe of Ashland, Kentucky; one sister, Ruth Coleman of Pelahatchie, Mississippi; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Pinion Sharpe; a daughter, Luann Sharpe; a son, Wiley Clayton Sharpe, Jr.; one sister and three brothers.
