Nick Alan Webb, Sr. died on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017 at his home in Oxford. A private time of remembrance for Mr. Webb was held on Monday. Honoring his request, Mr. Webb’s body was donated to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Miss.
Mr. Webb was born on Sept. 8, 1944 to the late Roy Williams Webb and Janice Tripp Webb in Clarksville, Ark. Mr. Webb is survived by his wife Renee Jay Webb. He is also survived by two sons and three daughters: Nick Webb of Gastonia, N.C.; Mark Webb of Columbia, S.C.; Jodie Webb Johnson of Anderson, S.C.; Caroline Carrier O’Connor of Oxford, Miss; and Andrea Carrier Peckham of Glencoe, Mo. He leaves behind eight grandchildren. Other survivors include his three brothers and a sister: Tommy Webb, Bill Webb and David Webb, all of Oxford, Miss. and Kathy Webb Corban of Tupelo, Miss.
Mr. Webb graduated from Taylor High School in Taylor, Miss. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Memphis and he received his graduate degree from the University of Mississippi. Mr. Webb taught history in the Lafayette and Oxford School Districts. He served as a guidance counselor at Oxford Junior High School and for Buena High School in Sierra Vista, Ariz. The Webbs retired to Oxford. They attended St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. Mr. Webb was an avid reader. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, supporting the Ole Miss Rebels, and grilling for family and friends.
